Helena Nader

Helena Bonciani Nader é professora titular da Unifesp (1989), bolsista de produtividade do CNPq (nível 1A), membro titular da Academia de Ciências de São Paulo (1989), da Academia Brasileira de Ciências (1999), e da World Academy of Science (TWAS) for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries (2013). É presidente de honra (desde 2017) da Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência (SBPC). Membro do Conselho Superior da Capes. Seus trabalhos envolvem glicoquímica e glicobiologia estando voltados para o estudo da estrutura e função biológica de proteoglicanos, em especial de heparina e heparam sulfato, com especial ênfase a função desses compostos na hemostasia, no controle da divisão celular e na transformação celular.

Atualmente, é titular da Cátedra Olavo Setubal de Arte, Cultura e Ciência, do Instituto de Estudos Avançados da Universidade de São Paulo (IEA), da USP.

Helena Bonciani Nader is a full professor at Unifesp (1989), CNPq productivity scholar (level 1A), full member of the Academy of Sciences of São Paulo (1989), the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (1999), and the World Academy of Science (TWAS) for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries (2013). She is Honorary President (since 2017) of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC). Member of the Superior Council of Capes. Her work involves glycochemistry and glycobiology being focused on the study of the structure and biological function of proteoglycans, in particular heparin and heparam sulfate, with special emphasis on the function of these compounds in hemostasis, control of cell division and cell transformation.

Nader currently holds the Olavo Setubal Chair in Art, Culture and Science, at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IEA) of USP.
