Mauricio Pietrocola Pinto de Oliveira
Maurício Pietrocola é formado em Física pela Universidade de São Paulo (1984) e Mestre em Ensino de Ciências pela Universidade de São Paulo (1988). Ele iniciou sua carreira de professor de Física no ensino médio (1984-1988). Obteve seu doutorado em Epistemologia e História das Ciências pela Universidade de Paris VII (1992). Fez seu doutorado na Universidade de Educação da Universidade de São Paulo intitulado: "Reflexões Históricas e Epistemológicas e o Ensino das Ciências" (2004). Foi professor do Departamento de Física da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (1993-2002). Foi secretário de Educação da Sociedade Brasileira de Física por dois mandatos (1999-2001 e 2001-2003). Ele foi membro da Comissão Internacional de Educação Física (2002- 2005). Na administração seguinte ele se tornou vice-presidente (2005-2008). Ele participou da organização de vários eventos nacionais e internacionais sobre pesquisa em educação científica. Foi membro correspondente internacional da equipe da RESHEIS (Recherches Epistémologiques et Historiques sur les Sciences Exactes et Instituitions scientifiques). Foi pesquisador visitante na Universidade de Maryland e na Universidade Autônoma de Barcelona. Em 2013-2014 ele foi um Distinguished Visiting Fellow no Advanced Research Collaborative e no Urban Education Program da City University of New York. Atualmente ele é professor titular da Faculdade de Educação da Universidade de São Paulo, onde realiza pesquisas sobre o desenvolvimento de estratégias inovadoras em educação científica e formação de professores.

Maurício Pietrocola has a degree in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1984) and a Master in Science Teaching from the University of São Paulo (1988). He started his teaching career as a high school physics teacher (1984-1988). He earned his doctorate in Epistemology and History of Science from the University of Paris VII (1992). He did his PhD at the University of Education of the University of São Paulo entitled: "Historical and Epistemological Reflections and the Teaching of Sciences" (2004). He was a professor at the Physics Department of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1993-2002). He was secretary of Education at the Brazilian Physics Society for two terms of office (1999-2001 and 2001-2003). He was a member of the International Commission on Physics Education (2002- 2005). In the following administration he became vice-president (2005-2008). He has participated in the organization of several national and international events on research in science education. He was an international correspondent member of the RESHEIS team (Recherches Epistémologiques et Historiques sur les Sciences Exactes et Instituitions scientifiques). He was a visiting researcher at the University of Maryland and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In 2013-2014 he was a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Advanced Research Collaborative and the Urban Education Program at the City University of New York. He is currently a full professor at the Faculty of Education at the University of São Paulo, where he conducts research on the development of innovative strategies in science education and teacher training.
