book interview: The Encyclopedia of Fictional Artists + The Addition

Every few weeks, de Appel arts centre interviews a book fanatic about his or her favorite Appel publication.

This month, the interview was extraordinary. We didn't focus on a reader of our books, but on an author. Kris Gruijthuisen, director of Grazer Kunstverein, wrote The Addition: a follow-up of The Encyclopedia of Fictional Artists.

The Encyclopedia has been developed by Koen Brams in 2000. It provides an overview of more than 280 fictional artists that have appeared in world literature from 1605 until now.

Kris Gruijthuizen wrote a second part in which 25 (contemporary) artists research the phenomenon fiction.
