In 2018 the annual congress of IKT (International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art), which marks the association’s 45th anniversary, is dedicated to widening the participants’ knowledge about the Polish and the Lithuanian art scene. Invited by the LAZNIA Center of Contemporary Art, 92 curators from 24 countries will meet and explore the artistic scene in Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia from May 10 to 13. The Gdansk City Galleries, the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, the future site of the Museum of Contemporary Art NOMUS, the European Solidarity Center, the Museum of the Second World War are part of this program as well as the Gdynia City Museum and a guided walk through the modernist architecture of this city, the State Gallery in Sopot, the Murals Gdansk Zaspa and the Baltic Sea Cultural Center.

The LAZNIA Center for Contemporary Art celebrates its 20th anniversary with co-organizing a two-part symposium entitled “The Common Grounds. Learning from Contexts and Communities.” The first part is designed as an internal exchange of experiences and knowledge between IKT members and will be hosted by the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. The second part of the symposium has been organized in collaboration with Leonardo ISAST, the International Society for the Arts, Science and Technology which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. “The Common Grounds. Learning from Contexts and Communities” which takes place at the European Solidarity Center in Gdansk on Sunday May 13th is open to the general audience.
