Thomas Hirschhorn e o Museu Precário Albinet: postura etnográfica e crítica urbana

by Marcia Ferran

Abstract:

Taking as a starting point a research done during a doctorate, in this article I will approach the experience of the Musée Précaire Albinet, constructed and disassembled in 2004 by the Swiss artist Thomas Hirschhorn in Aubervilliers, a French suburb, as a parabol of the diversity of references which some contemporary artistic proposals deal with. In fact, at a first glance we face at least some fields that mark out the debates on art: social function of the artist, political vocation of the art, institutional criticism, opportunism of the cultural agents, apology of the precariousness. However, at a closer look, other instances are disclosed, among which I will briefly highlight the philosophical issue of a hospitality in the contemporary artdetecting features of the "etnographic position", and the institutional criticism, which, in reality, are interlaced. The hospitality issue is anchored in the ethical analysisdeveloped by the philosopher Emmanuel Lévinas, and must be seen in thechallenge of the face-to-face with a radical cultural alterity, rather than in the tourist sense, regulated.
