20 horas – Conferência: “A Águia do Oligozän até hoje” - Jürgen Harten
A águia do oligozän até hoje. Marcel Broodthaers dedicou seu Musée
d’Art Moderne, Département des Aigles a um debate público sobre a missão dos
museus, o papel dos artistas e a questão da mídia. Esta conferência baseia-se na
cooperação de Harten com o artista, entre 1969 e 1975, e faz referência especial
à exposição Section des Figures, realizada no Kunsthalle de Düsseldorf, em 1972,
quando foi diretor da instituição.
The eagle from the oligozän until today. Marcel Broodthaers dedicated his Musée
d´Art Moderne, Département des Aigles — installed in Brussels 1968 — to a free
public debate about the mission of museums, the role of artists and the matter of
media. The lecture is based on Harten’s cooperation with the artist between 1969
and 1975, with special reference to the exhibition of the Section des Figures at the
Kunsthalle Düsseldorf in 1972.

A instituição artística sob suspeita. Em 1968, Broodthaers abre
um museu em sua casa, em Bruxelas. Em 1969, Hélio Oiticica realiza a mostra
Experiência Whitechapel, em Londres, e anuncia que não mais exporá em instituições
artísticas. Daquele momento em diante, cada um converte seu “habitat”
em lugar de convívio para a percepção da vida cotidiana como processo criativo.
O que une e o que separa estes artistas, que inventaram táticas à margem da instituição?
Por que falar deles hoje? - Lisette Lagnado é curadora geral da 27ª Bienal.
The art institution under suspicion. In 1968, Broodthaers opens his own museum
in his apartment in Brussels. In 1969, Hélio Oiticica exhibits almost all his work
in London, and calls the show Whitechapel Experience, saying that he would no
longer present exhibitions in art institutions. From the following decade on, each
of these artists converts their “habitat”, private space, in a place to invite people to
sense everyday life as a creative process. What is it that unites and sets apart these
two artists, who invent a tactic outside the institution? Why should we still talk
about them? - Lisette Lagnado is chief curator of the 27th Bienal.

No ar: os curtos-circuitos alegóricos de Marcel Broodthaers. Ao realizarem
uma articulação complexa das imagens, das palavras e do real, as estratégias
artísticas de Broodthaers criam um curto-circuito alegórico da arte como sistema,
memória e instituição. Broodthaers é um artista hermeneuta, que comunica
um estoque de lugares, mirabilia poético-críticas, que colocam em funcionamento
uma máquina argumentativa movediça ad eternum, antecipando muitos aspectos
da arte contemporânea.
On the air: the allegorical short-circuits of Marcel Broodthaers. Broodthaers’ artistic
strategies, while articulating images, words and the real in a complex way, create
an alegorical short-circuit of art (never ending moule and eagle), as system,
memory, and institution. Broodthaers is a hermeneut artist, who communicates
various instances, critical-poetic mirabilia, which put endlessly at work a moving

Deslocamentos rítmicos: o artista como agenciador, como curador
e como crítico. A partir da prática de Broodthaers, esta palestra discutirá a imagem
e as características do artista contemporâneo como resultante de um percurso
fl exível e do deslocamento rítmico por diversos papéis dentro do circuito de arte,
onde as pesquisas de produção de linguagem e a busca do poema não se dissociam
das práticas do agenciamento, da curadoria e da crítica.
Rhythmical deslocations: the artist as promoter, curator and critic. Departing
from the practice of Broodthaers, this lecture will discuss the image and the
characteristics of the contemporary artist, as resulting of a fl exible path and of
the rhythmical deslocation through a miriad of roles in the art world, where the
researches of language production and the search of the poem are not dissociated
from the practices of promoting, of curatorship, and of critique.

Conferência: “Correspondências para além do silêncio” - Dorothea Zwirner
Correspondências para além do silêncio. Broodthaers é um dos
mais importantes representantes da “crítica institucional”, que teve início com as
vanguardas históricas no início do século 20. Seu conceito de arte e sua atitude são
abordados aqui em relação a seus contemporâneos George Brecht e Joseph Beuys,
e interpretados como ponto de partida para artistas da geração seguinte.
Correspondences beyond silence. Broodthaers is one of the most important
representatives of the “institutional critique”, which started out with the Avantgarde
of the beginning of the 20th century. His art concept and his attitude are
approached here in relation to his contemporaries George Brecht and Joseph
Beuys, and interpreted as a starting point of artists of younger generations.

Speakers’ corner, sopro a sopro. Em 1972, Broodthaers apresentou
sua ação Speakers’ Corner no Hyde Park de Londres, que serviu de material
para um fi lme com mesmo título. Para a perplexidade e jocosidade dos passantes,
Broodthaers é fi lmado fazendo um discurso mudo, segurando uma pequena lousa
de dois lados em que se lêem injunções, tais como preste atenção, visite a national
gallery, visite a tate gallery, ou declarações, apenas para artistas,
vocês são artistas, ou simplesmente silêncio, que são escritas a giz e apagadas
sucessivamente pelo artista. A partir desta obra, a discussão aborda a idéia de ação
e interação como uma linguagem de resistência e coexistência, ou como a mudez
pode ser ruidosa, sugerindo um Broodthaers acionista/situacionista.
Speakers’ corner, blow by blow. In 1972, Broodthaers presented his action Speakers’
Corner in London’s Hyde Park, which served as the material for a fi lm with the
same title. To the bemusement and jocularity of passers-by, Broodthaers is fi lmed
offering a silent speech, holding up a small two-sided blackboard on which are
written injunctions, such as pay attention, visit national gallery, visit tate
gallery, or assertions, for artists only, you are artists, or simply silence,
each one of which is wiped out before Broodthaers chalks up the next. Departing
from this piece, this lecture will approach the idea of action and interaction as a
language of resistance and coexistence, or how muteness can become very loud,
suggesting an actionist/situationist Broodthaers.
