Fórum Permanente's Track Record

genealogy, context of creation, summary of trajectory and main events held by Fórum Permanente from 2003 to date:

1994

Creation of EIL- Electronic Interfaces Laboratory aimed at interdepartmental and interdisciplinary research in new media at NICA- ECA's Computer Science Center, which hosted and generated the first experiments with the Internet and WWW. ECA (Escola de Comunicações e Artes (School of Comunications and Arts) - University of São Paulo (USP)) has its first internet server named FLUSSER, a PC486 running on linux. (Research Coordinator: Martin Grossmann).

1995 - 1998

Creation and development of the inaugural-experimental phase of USPonline: USP's first website and information portal, having EIL-ECA as the generator of its graphical interface developed, in part, in 3D modeling software (academic coordinator: Martin Grossmann).

 

1996

March: Workshop virtual museum and creation of the museum of the (in)consequent collective (coord. workshop Martin Grossmann & Wayne Baerwald (Plug-In, Winnipeg, Canada).

NOTE: as a result of this workshop, the museum of the (in)consequent collective emerged, a museum created to operate in virtuality.

 

1998-2001

2003

October: Launching of Fórum Permanente by the Goethe-Institut (Joachim Bernauer - Cultural Director of the Goethe Institut São Paulo & Martin Grossmann ECA-USP).

OctoberRound-table at OCA- Ibirapuera, theme: The Museum of the 21st Century (portuguese only) with the participation of Sir Nicholas Serrota, director of the Tate Gallery of London, Great Britain; Ulrich Krempel, director of the Sprengel Museum Hannover, Germany and Moacir dos Anjos, director of the Museum of Modern Art of Recife, Brazil. First major event promoted in partnership by Fórum Permanente, Goethe Institut, British Coucil and Brazil Connects.

 

2004

Fórum Permanente was among the 100 best classified entities receiving a diploma that certifies it as a State Culture Point and also an award as a form of recognition for the cultural initiatives already developed. In a universe of 1,037 competitors, this is a huge achievement for all the members and collaborators of the entity!

2020

The year 2020 was marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, Fórum Permanente reinforced its online presence through its social networks and by publishing five editions of the "Jornada da Quarentena" (The journey of Quarantine), making available on the website a selection of articles, essays, panel discussions and other artistic productions from its immense archive, seeking with this to stimulate the diffusion of quality content about contemporary art, culture and art museums.
